It was a mixed experience at best. Overall, thoroughly disappointed with the lack of professionalism seen in both the human interactions and the automated ordering process. During the period between which I placed the order and I got an email confirmation re: the order, the product "suddenly" was backordered. Not a good sign.
A follow up on the telephone was met with reasonably unhelpful cust. service reps saying there was nothing they could do. (Amazon could easily teach them more than a thing or two...). No real time inventory access apparently.
I send them an email request saying I'd like to know when they expect the notebook in stock. I get a response 4 days later to say that the product will ship in 2-4 weeks. Extremely ironic that just hours later I get yet another email to say that my order has shipped 24 hours ago. Go figure...!
Order tracking is only partially available online. They dont release the tracking number to you. Why? Laptops are a high risk item and they dont want the risk of having it intercepted on the way. They however give me a "confirmed" delivery date by FedEx. OK -- so now I am to wait around all day at home to receive it as I cannot call FedEx and get an approximate time of delivery by tracking number.
The day before it is to be delivered, I find a big (22 lb.) package sitting outside my front door. FedEx has left the laptop and all the accessories outside my front door -- sans signature.
Bottom line - if you are used to the top notch customer service standards of Amazon.com you may find yourself pulling your hair trying to get your order processed accurately and on time. I only ordered from CompUSA since they were offering a significant mail in rebate on the product. Now I am keeping my fingers crossed that the rebate actually shows up. Or else I think I'll be happier paying a little more on Amazon.com down the road and not losing my sanity in the process.
