One of the first things I liked about carsdirect.com was that they show you the actual price on their website. And you don't need to give away any personal information to see the price. So you can anonymously browse through different model cars without being hassled by any salespeople.
One of the earlier reviewer doubted the their quoted price was the actual price you'd pay. Well, this is the ACTUAL price, however you will need to pay tax, title and license as normal.
I filled out a request to buy a Honda Accord EX V6 on Saturday. On Monday morning a Carsdirect rep called me to discuss the car. I live in Los Angeles, so there are many Honda dealerships near me. He couldn't find the color I wanted, but said if I took a different color that he had on hand, he would take $500 off the price. I agreed to this offer.
I then faxed him my driver license and insurance info. He sent me an e-mail with the total costs. Carsdirect.com did not add any additional fees to the purchase price, and I was able to see the price breakdown before I agreed to buy. I also had to agree via e-mail that I was going to purchase the car. After that, I received a call from the dealer who was selling the car, and we arranged a time for him to deliver the car to my work.
On Tuesday, the dealer delivered the car to my work. I filled out and signed the forms, and also gave them my deposit. By Tuesday 3pm the car was mine.
All of the forms I signed were through Honda Motors, including the Title transfer, Loan, etc. Carsdirect.com is listed as the broker.
Overall the process was very easy, and I received a much better price than through the dealer directly.
