Postscript & update to what I had written some months ago:A couple of months after the merchandise failed to show up, I got a call from BuyDig.com asking me if I would reconsider my EPINION if they sent me a nice freebee. My negative opinion was obviously hurting their ratings. At any rate, thinking back to when I bought some expensive electronics without a hitch from them, I agreed.
They sent me a very cheap 4 AA rechargable battery/charger set. A real chippie (sic)! No indicator if the batteries are charged, need to charge batteries for 9 years, etc... You get the picture!
Still and all, things can go wrong with orders occassionally, and since my first, much higher priced order was successfully filled, I will give BUYDIG.com a pass. They mean well and they are not dishonest! They credited my PayPal account immediately when they realized they didn't have the product at that time. They are a bona-fide company and deserve another chance. Just don't go for that cheap and useless battery/charger set! You'll have to throw it in the garbage.
Initial EPINION:
Ordered an Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder on Sunday, 10/14/08. Today, 10/17/08 at 9:15PM, a full three business days later, they still still hadn't shipped it. Their poorly designed site shows no order placed with them. It was paid by Pay-pal.
Customer phone-support did show the order and said on 12/16 they expected it to ship within 24 hrs. So far nothing. E-mail support says they will answer within 24 hrs.
Trust me folks, it is far cheaper to pay a few bucks more and buy from a reliable vendor like Amazon.com which normally ships within 24 hrs, than deal with such slow merchants. If I had ordered from Amazon, com or AntOnline.com or whomever, I would have it in hand by 12/19.
By the way, eBay is seldom ever an option anymore. The prices are almost always higher than other on-line merchants', frequently surpassing even those of brick and mortar stores.
Postcript: 12/20/08
BuyDig.com responded to my e-mail by offering to overnight the product at no extra cost. I agreed, with a note that I still didn't understand why after 3 full days, it still hadn't shipped.
On the fifth business day, they refunded my Pay-Pal account with no further contact. I wasted a whole week on a purchase that was apparently never going to be shipped.
What boggles the mind is that while everybody is fighting for your last Dollar & your business with constant offers of better prices and no s&h fees, this company has chosen to tick off a customer,-who, just like most men do- buys thousands of Dollars worth of electronics every year. I would have been OK if they would have advised me of the non availability of the product or some other problem for their non-performance. They chose to say nothing and just refund the money. If not for the high degree of professionalism of PayPal letting me know of the refund, I would still be waiting for the item.
I am really tired of poor service & shoddy products, poor or non-existent tech support and have decided to voice my opinion from my own personal experience(s). Your experiences may differ... Stay tuned!
Subsequently, I ordered an upgraded model from Adorama.
In case you are wondering, I have bought over 125 items on eBay with a 100% positive rating!
