Amazon: How To Buy A TV In Todays Market Place.
by bikeamtn, December 23, 2009
|
|||||||
|
I decided on the Toshiba 32HL67U TV and got it from Amazon.com. I read a meaningful review about the benefits of buying a TV from Amazon and my own past experience with them was super so I did and what an excellent experience/deal. It was on sale w/Free shipping, my TV was freighted to a local delivery service and then a guy personally phoned and drove to my house for delivery. All this took 5-days. "This is the way the mail-order process should be!" Amazon is stellar.
Update: TV got two black pixels after a week, called Amazon, they sent another TV the same way (arrived in 3-days) and pickedup the bad TV in the same trip. This TV has been perfect now for 2+ years. That's how you buy a TV... So much for the old saying that you'll never get good service with an Online seller. (See Also:) Read a horror story about my Refurbdepot.com order! |

Fair to middlin' but remembering to always watch them carefully

Generally, I have had good experiences. The only very negative one I had was when one of their associate sellers did not like my review and comments about the shipping costs and started to harass me with emails.
The other irritating thing that occurred recently (on the Monday after Black Friday) was when I put an iTouch in my cart without closing the order. When I went back to complete the order two days later the price of the item had risen by $5. It was their right to do so but what ticked me off is that two weeks later the price was back to the amount when I first had placed it in my cart. Seems quite manipulative but $5 here and $5 there...soon you're talking real money for the seller. No sense rewarding that behavior so I was glad I had cancelled the original order and went elsewhere. |

returns are NOT easy!
by pegs123, December 4, 2009

I used to be a fan of Amazon because it was an easy way to shop and find exactly what you wanted. But - I have changed my mind completely! Amazon does not stand behind the products it sells. Amazon says "Returns are Easy!" That couldn't be farther from the truth. If you buy something that is poor quality or damaged, you may not discover this fact until you open the product and try to use it. Once opened, though, Amazon will not accept the return. Ridiculous! Thank goodness for stores like Costco that actually stand behind their products.

Very Poor
by apexlawn, November 28, 2009

This company Amazon.com has no customer service department. Amazons customer are the companies that pay them to advertise there products. These are concerdered selling-agents. They are who you buy from not Amazon.com. All Amazon does is pretend that they have customer support if you can find them and they do not support there seller-agents. This means as a buyer you are stuck. If Amazon would help,work, and provide there seller-agents with contact information about there company then the site might be trustworthy. Each seller has there own web site but Amazon creates traffic for them so they post there products for more money then you could buy directly and there is no direct contact with Amazon.com. They have no managment, support, customer concern, etc. Only a large marketing budget. I would demand contact information from any company prior to giving them a dime.

Bad Customer Service for a Longtime Customer
by calrichblue, November 20, 2009
|

|
I canceled an order from Amazon, recieved the cancelation e-mail and thought all was fine. I charged items on my Visa debit card thinking the money was in my account. Amazon shipped the item anyway and as a result I was overdrawn on my account and incurred fees. Amazon refused to accept any resposiblity in causing my late fees. I canceled my Amazon account and now use Deep Discount DVD for my media purchases.

Too lazy to correct problems on their end

Yesterday when I placed my order, both books qualified for free shipping. In fact, I only ordered the second book in order to get free shipping. However, when I got the order confirmation I realized that I was charged for shipping. I called Customer Service and was first told to cancel and re-order to correct the problem. I refused to spend my time correcting their mistake. Then the agent offered to give me a credit on a future order. Again, I refused as I wanted the order corrected and the shipping amount refunded. After several minutes negotiating and being put on hold, he said a credit would be issued altho' he could not send me a corrected email with that info. I would have to wait several days and check my credit card. I consider this very poor service. Amazon should be capable of much better.

Amazon customer service stinks. They are so bad and lazy. I ordered something from them and tried to cancel the order 6 days before the package was scheduled to leave their place and they told me that it cannot be canceled. That's stupid. They get you with the free shipping but it takes over a month to receive you package. They just wasted my time. NEVER do business with them

Had I known that they were so hard to contact for any problem or had I known how long it would take to recieve an item that I bought I would have gone to BestBuy. They STILL don't know where my order is and they havn't replied to my email (the ONLY way to contact them)
I used them to save 20 lousy bucks! What a mistake!!!! In a nutshell. They Suck! |

Ordered a PS3 Slim five days ago, still has not shipped. It would have shipped the next business day if I had ordered from Newegg.com. I wish I had ordered from Newegg first, or buy.com second. Once your Amazon.com order goes into the order process (several hours afterwards) you're not able to cancel the order! I've had nothing but bad experiences ordering electronics and computer items from Amazon.com.

Good site, but not as good as it was in the past. and choices overall.
by umichigan, August 26, 2009

|||||||
|
I have used Amazon.com for a long time for shopping. But I am disappointed this last year in the grocery section as it seems more items are not being stocked and delivered directly from their site, but from third party vendors with high shipping costs. This is a real turnoff for buying from them.
Also, I have had problems viewing their new supposedly improved web pages in their entirety and have contacted them multiple times without any postive changes being seen by them. This is also a big turn off, since it takes much longer to view a page. It seems such a big organization would have the ability to correct such problems. |

I am very disappointed with Amazon Customer Service. I accidently ordered something and within minutes tried to cancel and couldn't. They told me to refuse the package and I would get my refund. Therein lies the problem, I have been trying for weeks to get my refund - each time they apologize (everyone is always so nice), but then no action. Does anyone know what recourse I can take to resolve this problem. I even received an e mail of apology and told it would be processed, but when I called a few days later, I had to go through the explanation all over again.

Amazon Prime : Losing Its Luster
by contractor4, July 10, 2009
|
|||||||
|
I am a big fan of Amazon.com. I have been a Prime member for a few years. This site has always been fast and easy for me to use. The problem with my last order was that not one thing I needed of the six items ordered were provided by Amazon which means I had to pay shipping on six individual orders. Isn't the whole point of shopping on a mega site that they are supposed to have everything you need and to save you money? I am sure Amazon gets a handsome fee for these orders while I get stuck paying for shipping six times. Also, this doesn't have to do with my order, I wish they would allow me to control my home page. Just because I looked at one toy for my son once doesn't mean I want to see rows and rows of toy suggestions.

Beware of delivery and shipment estimates when ordering "free shipping."
by mouse1047, June 22, 2009
|
|||||||
|
I have been an Amazon buyer for a couple years now. I recently had a lousy experience ordering an item I needed yesterday. Beware of delivery and shipment estimates when ordering "free shipping." They offer one day, two day, and club express, or free shipping. They will push your order back by as much as two weeks for "free shipping" and then hide behind the small print and change language on you from delivery to shipping. I had a purchase date of June 18, 2009, a estimated delivery of June 23, 2009, with a confirmation of "being processed" at time of purchase. Then a couple days later I signed on line and Amazon informed me that it was "being prepared" with a "shipment date" of June 30 to July 7, 2009! They will not refund your money even if it still has not shipped. Amazon's customer service is friendly, but ineffective to help you change or refund the order. Loyalty to them is a trend, beware.

do not shop at AMAZON.COM. back in it's day amazon was fine, it has become too big and irrelevant. their one click shopping is a device that permits unwitting shoppers to place orders without viewing cart, without updating cart, without updating account information and without clicking a button to confirm order. the amazon customer service is worthless and of course you can't understand through their accent anyway. there are plenty of great alternatives to amazon, take a moment and find them. these days amazon is just a clearing house for third party merchants anyway.

Another reason to not shop at Amazon.

Okay, I recently bought Gran Turismo 5 Prologue from Amazon, and when I got the e-mail of confirmation it was stated "You will receive the package in 1-2 working days. I ordered it last Wednesday (15th April) and it wasn't here by Friday. So I decided to be patient and wait another day. (Saturday, today) When the post came I was extremely excited, so I ran downstairs and realised my game wasn't there, so I got really angry, having my excitement crushed for the second time by Amazon.
So Amazon, what I want to say is your service sucks, and so does the delivery speed. |

I was getting ready to order something on line after looking at shopping.com comparisons for that product. I was surprised that Amazon.com only had 3 checks for a rating so I clicked on the reviews and was very surprised at the negative feedback for Amazon.
I did a lot of shopping on line in November and December and a lot of it was with Amazon. I don't usually take the time to write a review but now am thinking that I should consider doing that after each purchase. I had problems with 2 orders from Amazon, one damaged and one not as described. But Amazon took care of both problems professionally. courteously, and quickly. The misdescribed item was from an Amazon marketplace retailer and both Amazon and the retailer took immediate action and their service was extraordinary and above expectations. I do believe that Amazon values their customers and I do trust Amazon to take care of me. I will continue to shop at this trusted store. |

Amazon.com a Smart Way to Shop
by dwink9909, April 3, 2009
|
|||||||
|
When you live a bit off the beaten path, Amazon.com can be a very important shopping resource. For me, the nearest shopping center is more than 35 miles away. I have used Amazon.com a great deal in the past four years and never been disappointed with their selection, quality and service.
I upgraded to Amazon Prime three months ago and have already recovered the cost in delivery charges. Prime shipping will also get you very rapid shipping in many cases. I hate shopping, so Amazon.com provides a more comfortable option. I use a "Wish List" to store ideas for future purchases and I take advantage of customer reviews for every purchase I make. Amazon helps me make more informed buying decisions while shopping for the things I want and need at my own pace. Amazon is a useful and smart way to buy what you need with minimum trouble. Perhaps I am really fortunate, but I have never had to use Amazon's return policy or send back an unacceptable/broken item. |

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I was shopping for a business phone for immediate use. It was IN STOCK AND READY TO BE SHIPPED when I ordered it. I kept waiting and waiting and when I called Amazon to find out the status they stated that they did not know the problem and now my ship date was postponed for another month. They made no attempts to take care of the situation. The customer service line was no help, felt like they were just reading off a script. I kept asking why the long wait, "Uh, don't know...." Amazon lost a customer for life, will not go back to shop there!
