When you describe something as the best, you better have credentials to back it up - and I do. Here is a small story that just happened to back up my title for Altrec -

So I misplaced a Patagonia Porter backpack in Africa - it belonged to a friend and I felt miserable at having lost it (tho, the airlines are really to blame.) - anyways, calling Patagonia and checking their website made me aware that the product was no longer made since 2001. I called EVERY outlet store of theirs, checked more than 20 online retailers, and harassed sales people at many local outdoor equipment store ... no luck.

Being the anal retentive person that I am, I did the famous Google search - it returned a mere 6 sites - 3 in Japanese. Only one site had a link of the product description and a writeup - that site was Altrec. Anyways, so I call them - they tell me its not in stock - and the talented customer service agent patiently goes through all the other options I have including all the competitors I could check ... AMAZING.

Then I decide to write to the guy who wrote the online review - it turns out to be a famous employee at Altrec - in a day when people change email accounts faster than underwear, I had no hope of contacting someone using their 2001 address.

So the guy emails me back and lets me know of his affiliation to Altrec - and while he can't give his beatup backpack, he offers to help track one down. While we go over options, he sends me an email within 3 days saying he had tracked a salesperson sample - and he could sell it to me. He gives me his number and offers me a discount because its something out-of-stock.

The backpack was just shipped out. In an age where online retailers like Amazon.com do not even have a personalized response to an email, sites such as Altec.com stand out because of their genuine interest in their customers needs.

Altrec.com is amazing - try it. You will not be disappointed!
