2006 vintage was marked by a long ripening season with temperate weather which gave the grapes ample hang time on vine. This extra period of ripening allowed flavor of grapes to fully develop. Harvested in late September to mid October each vineyard lot was picked at peak of flavor and then fermented separately in stainless steel tanks before ageing separately in American and French oak barrels for 18 months. Just prior to bottling, lots were blended to create a wine with intense blackberry jam flavors and delightful spicy notes. 2006 vintage of Sonoma County Zinfandel is enjoyable now but should continue to improve with cellar ageing. Bridgehead Zinfandel is consistently most refined and elegant of several Zins that Cline produces. 2005 Bridgehead Zinfandel has notes of spice and bright blackberry. wine is firm and deep with notes of chocolate and toasty vanilla. Benefiting from a fine-grained structure of balanced acids and tannins, wine will age beautifully for well over next five to seven years. Its claret-like style and intriguingly complex earthy-berry character make this one of California's most distinct and one of Cline's most treasured Zinfandels.

A blend of 80% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Syrah and 4% Carignane. After long, hard rains in March, budbreak came by mid-April. In late July, extreme temperatures sunburned west-facing blocks. These are planted predominantly to petite sirah, which took highest loss. Veraison was late, and light rains further slowed maturation. We thinned damaged clusters, and harvested remaining fruit, fully ripe, between mid-September and mid-October. As tannin developed, we reduced pumpovers, and pressed at dryness on day nine. After a natural malolactic, twenty of thirty-four blocks were selected for 2006. This classic Lytton Springs was barrel aged for a full fifteen months. Approachable now, it has structure to be cellared and enjoyed over next ten years. Bright spice drives through complex dark fruit of this old-vine blend, which includes Petite Syrah (16%) and Carignane (4%).
